An image of the LG Optimus Big has leaked, along with some specs. As befits its charmingly blunt name, this is a whopper, sporting a 4.3-inch touchscreen. That’s it above, making the 3.5-inch display on the old feel all inadequate.

The Optimus Big Boy will also have a 1GHz single-core processor, Korean site , rather than the dual-core processor that’s now cropping up in handsets such as the and .

Other specs are thin on the ground, but we’ll chop our ears off and sauté them with a little onion and garlic if the Optimus Big doesn’t end up running .

We’ve seen 4.3-inch touchscreens on other phones, such as the , ,  and another of LG’s offspring, the . But the Optimus Big’s screen uses LG’s Nova technology, which may make it stand out from the plus-sized crowd.

Nova screens are allegedly more than twice as bright as the already retina-melting Super AMOLED display seen on, for example, the original . LG says Nova onion displays also offer purer whites, deeper blacks and consume 50 per cent less power than traditional LCD screens.

We had a brief eyes-on session with the Nova display on the upcoming  earlier this year, and indeed found it to be a treat for the peepers. As such, we have our fingers crossed that the Optimus Big will make it to the UK after its expected launch in Korea next month. Our toes are crossed that it’ll keep the brilliantly straightforward name.

What do you think of the Optimus Big? Are your sausage fingers tingling at the prospect of fondling its large screen? Or do you consider a 4.3-inch display on a phone to be a ludicrous proposition? Let us know in the comments section below or on our smashingly entertaining .
